I designed this piece from drawings and scrap papers. Writing from an old postcard in the background!
It was inspired by the countryside.

Rosie's Boudoir, Scarborough.

Rosies Boudoir is a wonderful vintage shop on South Cliff, Scarborough.
Find them at!

Here are some photos i took of their wonderful window displays. I love the colour palettes and textures.

And at Christmas:

French Flea Markets

This is my most recent project, based on the curiosités found at Flea Markets in France. The designs were intended for giftwrap, notebooks, wallpaper etc. I hand drew my designs, before digitally manipulating them. I used scrap papers from music books and Vintage French postcards i bought at flea markets in the designs.

The dove and the pocket-watch.
Bird in a Bell Jar.
Objets Trouvés
Un petit Oiseau.

The dove and the mannequin.

1920's inspired embroidery

I created these pieces for a 1920's inspired project. I screen printed the pieces with my drawings of the 1920's ladies, then embellished them.

This pieces was screen printed with  flock glue, then flock paper was applied under a heat press.
The clouds were laser cut into the fabric, and reverse appliqué was applied with a contrast colour background.

This piece was also done in flock, with foil applied to the moon. Sequins and beads were applied to the night sky.
Another flock piece onto silk, with beads applied.

This lady was sewn using the freehand embroidery foot on my sewing machine. I then reworked into the drawing with hand stitched embellishment.

Detail. Chain stitch.

Sample pieces.

Vintage Postcard Inspiration

I collect old postcards. I love the fact that letters were once the only form of communication to loved ones afar! This was an image from one of my postcards, digitally printed onto fabric and embroidered into. I used a freehand embroidery foot on my sewing machine to write the words "I Love You" underneath, and framed the piece in an embroidery hoop. This would be great for a wedding or valentines gift!
I also created some other pieces using the postcards printed onto fabric. I love the messages people wrote to one another. I made some fabric "postcard collection" books for the artist book fair.

Monmartre and Sacre Coeur.

My favorite place to be in Paris. I took these photos on a disposable camera, which got damaged by water! The prints came out looking like glitter had been thrown on the film. I think the last one looks like a ballerina's foot.

Ernest J Bellocq.

Ernest (1873 – 1949) was a photographer in the 20th century. Here is one of his eerie portraits of prostitutes in New Orleans.
